AUSTIN, Texas, March 1, 2006 — Today, Chairman Elizabeth Ames Jones released a list of Texas statewide officeholders endorsing her candidacy for a full term on the Railroad Commission of Texas(RRC). Jones is the Chairman of the 3-member commission. The RRC oversees the Texas oil and gas industry and gas utilities, pipeline safety, safety in the propane industry, and surface mining of coal and uranium.

“If the people I work with can’t support me, then I don’t know who can,” Jones said. “That is why I am so proud and honored to have the support of such distinguished Texans.”

David Dewhurst – Lieutenant Governor
Greg Abbott- Attorney General
Susan Combs – Agriculture Commissioner
Jerry Patterson – Land Commissioner
Michael Williams – Railroad Commissioner
Victor Carrillo – Railroad Commissioner

A sixth generation Texan from San Antonio, Chairman Elizabeth Ames Jones served in the Texas House of Representatives before being appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Railroad Commission in February 2005. She is a member of the Coastal Coordination Council, Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, and National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.
