Throughout my career, I have remained steadfast in the belief that government should do a few things and do them well. I’m a fiscal conservative who believes that less power and money should be concentrated in the hands of government. It’s time to return that power to where it rightly belongs, with you.
I’m a pragmatist who knows that the answers to our nation’s energy problems can be found right here at home in Texas and the U.S. As a Railroad Commissioner, I have seen first-hand how Texas’ common sense energy policies have not only fostered economic growth but encouraged innovation in the exploration and extraction of energy resources. Today in Texas, more energy is extracted in an environmentally friendly manner than in any other state in the country.
That is good news on a number of levels because we need all the energy we can produce. This includes the development of wind, solar, geothermal and, most importantly, nuclear energy. At the same time, we must do everything possible to expand our domestic oil and natural gas production. There is no doubt in my mind that the ingenuity of the American people will revolutionize the way we use energy in the future. But until that day comes we must step up our domestic production of energy to lessen our dependence on foreign sources of oil. At stake is nothing less than our country’s national security and economic vitality.
I am an eternal optimist guided by confidence in the ingenuity of my fellow Texans, my faith in God, and my commitment to public service. I know our best days are yet to come, and so, with your prayers and support, I will continue to lead with steadfast devotion to keeping Texas the great state that it is.
Thank you for your support.
